Conducting White Campaign

On February 1, 2024, the Magway Region Human Rights Network (MHRN) organized the White Campaign from 10:00AM-12:00PM in Magway Region, to mark the third anniversary of the military coup attempt in the country. The event aimed to raise awareness about anti-dictatorship sentiments, advocate for human rights, and express solidarity with those affected by the political turmoil. Participants, including activists and internally displaced persons (IDPs), wore white shirts symbolizing peace, unity, and resistance against the oppressive military regime. Campaign messages prominently featured during the event included “Ban Jet Fuel Exports to Myanmar Fascist Dictator,” “Stop Blood Taxation,” “Stop Paying Tax to Junta,” and “Do CDM and Take to People’s Embrace.”

A representative from MHRN delivered a speech denouncing the military dictatorship, emphasizing the importance of standing together against tyranny, and highlighting the significance of international support, especially in restricting jet fuel exports to the military. Attendees actively engaged in discussions, sharing personal stories and experiences related to the ongoing struggle, fostering a sense of community and solidarity. The White Campaign was a poignant expression of resistance against the military dictatorship, successfully bringing together activists and affected communities and fostering a spirit of unity and determination in the face of adversity.
